About Me: Claire-May Minett

My name is Claire-May Minett, I am 29 years old. I have Mosaic Down Syndrome and I'm a media studies student. I live in Wardle, which is a village in Rochdale close to Littleborough where I have lived all my life. During my life I have struggled with my condition but I have overcome some boundaries, yet not completing them all. They will come in time.

I am passionate about supporting charities by holding fundraising events. I can tell you that I have circus skills, I can stilt walk, juggle (to a standard), club swinging and walk tightrope. I love to read Stephen King, Dean Koontz, J K Rowling, and classic novels.

Having a interest in horror I watch a lot of these types of films also but having an interest in lots of other themed films as well. With being a media student, I am passionate about working in the industry. At the moment I have undertook Work Experience in Manchester at a training radio station doing audio editing for them. I believe I have found my calling and wish to attend University to learn more about editing. I'd love to be a television/film editor.

My favourite television presenters are Ant & Dec. I'm a dedicated follower of theirs as I have studied their career to date. I love them, they are my raison d'etre. My attraction lies in the closeness of them as I used to believe I've never had it. Now I can say I have with Jamie Rome who is my boyfriend of 1 year and 9 months.

I have been involved with Musical Theatre for 16 years and also have 17 years of literary experience in which I have produced my own short stories, poems, plays (scripts), and some songs. I'm a eclectic music lover, as I like different kinds of music for different kinds of moods. I love Indie bands at the moment but I also love The Eagles, Frank Sinatra, Hermans Hermits, Billy Idol, Joni Mitchell, All American Rejects, Fallout boy, Lesley Garett, and many many more.

I used to own two cockatiels who were called Rocky & Rambo. Rambo died and I had to let go of Rocky as it was getting too much for me. I am a big believer in fairy tales and I'd love to be a princess for the day. However I also believe that everything is magical. The world has a lot of natural magic, I just wish many more would see it like that. My favourite film is Pretty Woman and my favourite song is Bran Adams 'Star'. I also love to watch soaps and different types of sci fi and crime dramas.
